Vaccines Save Lives: Why Immunizations are a Must
We require all dogs to be up-to-date on their immunizations This policy is in place for the health and safety of all of our furry guests. Immunizations are an essential part of keeping your pet healthy and preventing the spread of disease. By requiring up-to-date immunizations, we can provide a safe and healthy environment for all dogs in our care. Rabies
In accordance with state law, the rabies vaccine is required to be administered to dogs no later than 5 months of age. Rabies is a fatal disease that attacks the brain cells of infected animals, including dogs, and can be transmitted to humans through bites or scratches.

Bordetella
The Bordetella vaccine is administered nasally to protect dogs from a common respiratory illness known as "Kennel Cough" that can spread in pet communities across Wisconsin. Bordetella is a respiratory disease caused by a combination of viruses and bacteria that can be potentially fatal for dogs if left untreated.

DHLPP
The DHLPP vaccine is a combination of eight different vaccinations in one and is typically administered to puppies starting at around 8 weeks of age. Boosters are given every 3-4 weeks until the puppy reaches 4 months of age, followed by yearly boosters. This vaccine protects against several common and potentially deadly diseases, including distemper, a paramyxovirus similar to human measles; hepatitis, an adenovirus that can cause liver, eye, or kidney failure; parainfluenza, also known as "Kennel Cough," a potentially fatal virus that affects the respiratory system; parvovirus, a virus that can kill dogs in less than 72 hours; and leptospirosis, a bacteria capable of causing kidney failure and death.

Lyme
While it is not required, we strongly recommend vaccinating your dog against Lyme disease as our outdoor play areas may pose a risk for tick-borne illnesses. By keeping your dog up-to-date on their Lyme disease vaccinations, you can ensure they are protected while enjoying outdoor playtime with ease. Lyme disease is caused by the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, which is transmitted by ticks and can lead to serious complications such as kidney failure and even death.
